Meet Peggy
I have lived in the Imperial Valley for over 36 years. My parents, born during the great depression, were proud of what they had accomplished and instilled in me a hard work ethic and taught me the importance of giving back to our community. My father was a prisoner of war when the Japanese invaded the island of Guam. After the United States liberated the island my father left to live with family in San Diego. After graduating from high school he joined the Marines and soon after married my mother and raised four children. My father was a little league coach and my parents were volunteers for Pop Warner Football. While attending Imperial Valley College, I learned about our agricultural industry working for Kalin Farms. After graduating from IVC, I began working for the County of Imperial in 1994.
I began my public service as a Girl Scout leader over 30 years ago and continued to serve recently on the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts San Diego-Imperial Counties. I continued my education earning a degree in Business and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University. In 2013, I was appointed by the Board of Supervisors to Director of Social Services. As Director, I supported and administered the Imperial County Family Justice Center and Camp Hope for victims of crime and the children’s shelter, Betty Jo McNeece Receiving Home
My public service includes serving on multiple boards and committees dedicated to improvements in health care, labor, agriculture, business, and issues that impact women, youth and families in our communities. This inculdes:
Imperial County Local Health Authority
Imperial Valley Law Enforcement Communication Center - Narcotics Task Force
Juvenile Justice Commission First Five Commission
Imperial Valley Continuum of Care
Coalition of Labor Agriculture and Business (COLAB)
American Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education (ABATE 38) Toy Run Coordinator
Mexican American Women’s National Association (MANA)

I currently serve on the IID Energy Advisory Committee to represent Division 5 where I work with the Imperial County Public Health Department on a 5-year Community Health Improvement Plan. Also, I am currently the Director of Managed Care at Innercare which provides an array of comprehensive primary health care services to residents throughout Imperial County. I enjoy spending time with family and contributing to our community through various activities and service organizations.
